The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess by Chappell Roan 2024

Chappell Roan - The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess

Posted: 5/3/2025 by Ri Wescott ( See All) Show: Thursday from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM

(2024) I think I am the last person in the world to listen to this album, but better late than never! Finally listened to it full way through last night, and I enjoyed it a lot (surprise surprise, a very popular album is actually good and enjoyable!). Of all the modern queer pop artists, I find her stuff to be very unique and I think she can attribute that to her voice. Femininomenon is a fantastic opener but my other favorites include Red Wine Supernova, Casual, and Picture You. I am really excited to see where she goes from here, because she has a ton of potential. I know she doesn't need my approval since she already has the pop fandom in the palm of her hand, but I have a lot of hope for the future of pop music if Chappell is leading the way.

Hells Welles by Jesse Welles 2024

Jesse Welles - Hells Welles

Posted: 4/24/2025 by Ri Wescott ( See All) Show: Thursday from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM

(2024) A perfect album with incredible vocals, homey instrumentals, and strong political messages that run deep. His music is so real, raw, and reminiscent of a past when music was powerful enough to define a generation. It makes me think about the horrors of the world while also providing me some sense of comfort. It is truly beautiful. Best songs, in my opinion, are the first six tracks (War Isn't Murder, Payola, Cancer, The Olympics, God Abraham & Xanax, and Whistle Boeing) along with News, Trump Trailers, and Depression.

Recommended If You Like: Bob Dylan, John Denver, Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Simon and Garfunkel
